Webinário Role of the HPA Axis and the Neuroendocrine System in Psychiatric Disorders

On January 26, 2021 at 1 pm (BRT)

Webinário Richard Lee Portal

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Richard Lee - Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University

Moderator: Prof. Dr. Mirian Hayashi - Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at Unifesp

Dr. Richard Lee is a Johns Hopkins “lifer,” as he obtained a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering at the Homewood Campus of the Johns Hopkins University and his Ph.D. in molecular biology and genetics and his postdoctoral training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. For graduate school, Dr. Lee was trained under the epigeneticist Dr. Andrew Feinberg, where his research focused on uncovering epigenetic mechanisms that underlie genomic imprinting and childhood developmental disorders. Dr. Lee then received his postdoctoral training under Dr. James Potash (currently the Chairman of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins), where he has been applying tools and methods of epigenetics to elucidate the mechanisms by which stress exposure can affect genes and pathways involved in psychiatric disorders. He has also worked with collaborators to understand epigenetic mechanisms associated with drugs of abuse, psychotropic medications, and motivational behaviors.
